Women’s World Cup in Canada

While the top of Fifa is suffering from scandals, fortunately the ball keeps on bouncing. After the Champions League final all interest is focused to Women’s World Cup, which is held this time in Canada.

MyCoazh will be active on the tournament once again. We will make statistical game analyses at least from 20 games. And this is nothing new for us. We were there first time in 2009 when Women’s Euro Championships were held in Finland. At that time, we had developed our game analysis already some 5 years. And in the game France against Iceland, where we by the way first time saw Louisa Necib live and her brilliant breaking passes impressed us, we got the confidence, that we were at the right track. There was a guy with some kind of device and he marked at the very same time, when we made marks with “paper and pen” -version from team France’s actions. We thought that he would have been some statistical staff from French team, but no, he was working for betting firm! And then we knew, that we had understood something essential just right!

In German tournament 2011 we made statistics to the Finnish women’s national team head coach Andree Jeglertz. At that time Andree wanted to scout the best possible players on their playing positions. And Andree’s list was as follows:

Birgit Prinz, Inka Grings, Kerstin Garefrekes, Fatmine Bajramaj, Nadine Angerer, Christine Sinclair, Jonelle Filigno, Rita Chikwelu, Perpetua Nkwocha, Louisa Necib, Camille Abily, Homare Sawa, Miyama, Harley Moorwood, Dominigues, Kelly Smith, Rachel Yankey, Abby Wambach, Shannon Boxx, Christine Lilly, Amy Rodrigues, Carly Lloyd, Hope Solo, Lotta Rohlin, Lotta Schelin, Yo Yun Mi, Marta ja Isabel Herlovsen. All brilliant football players and most of them are here once again!

The list of MyCoazh All Stars-candidates from the very same tournament after about 20 statistical game analyses was like this: Marta ja Wanbach were selected as strikers ja they were challenged by Sinclair, Grings ja Schelin. Wingers Miyama, Rapinoe ja Garefrekes, challenged by Thomis. Upper midfield Sawa ja Kulig, challenged by Necib ja Cheney. Defenders Bombastor and Krieger challenged by Peter, Kinga ja Schmitt. Center defense Bartusiak ja Erika, challenged by Rohlin, Kumagai ja Iwashimizu and goalie Kaihori, challenged by Solo.

At that time we made these statistics with “paper and pen” –version and that was functioning well, even though it took quite a lot of time to calculate the Scores. The game analysis at that time looked like this:

In EURO2012 in Sweden, we made analyses, too. Finland was there, too, but at that time Jeglertz didn’t want the help of MyCoazh – and perhaps that was the reason, why they didn’t succeed from preliminary stage? No, not really, Finland didn’t have the courage even to try to play and dropped out after ok results (2 draws and 1 lost game), but awful own game. They were just defending.

MyCoazh is a statistical game analyzing program with which you can do analyzing from one team’s point of view. All you need is iPad with internet-connection, the license to this program, patience and some game understanding. What you do is actually mark every time your player and the ball have a contact. Actions come around 600 per game. And what you get from it? Evaluation how game went on your team’s point of view (should you win or lose), Score (Grade from 4-10) which pretty much tells you how your game went and Actions. If the team or player Score is above 8, you have succeeded well, if it’s under 7 not so good and in that case your team is most likely lost the game. With the team average 7,5, your team has most likely played draw. And of course, you get all the important statistical number shots, long and short passes, duels etc. for whole team and for all the individual players. Now we have made this all working with iPad and MyCoazh PRO and MyCoazh Video which Resulst-pages are looking as follows.

With MyCoazh you can give individual feedback to each player by statistics and by videoclips, which you get as well if you have a Youtube-video of the game and connect that to made game analysis. There is no more powerful way to give individual player feedback than the combination of video and statistics. Of course, you have to know your player, so you know how you can give that individual feedback. MyCoazh PRO algorithms have been calibrated by doing over 3 000 game analyses in about 15 years – so we really know what is essensial in the game of football, and what is not, when it comes to winning the games. You can use MyCoazh PRO for scouting your opponent, real-time analyzing your own game or for developing your players as better ones by individual feedback. “Improve your team performance!”

You can try player scouting by downloading a mobile version of MyCoazh Football from App Store or Google Play. Downloading the application costs 2,99 euros and after that you can use it without limit (as many different players or games you wish). In this app there are the same actions an in MyCoazh PRO, that you can mark, but you can track only one player or the whole team. While scouting one player, you get the statistics of your favorite player and then you can compare them to your own.

MyCoazh is going to do at least 20 game analyses of FIFAWWC. Before these games, we will tweet @MyCoazhFootball Prediction how the game will end. MyCoazhFootball Prediction is kind of Lagging indicator. The Prediction is based on the line-ups and past performance. And during the games in half time, we will tweet @MyCoazhFootball Estimated FT, which is an estimation how the game will end if it continues the way it has gone in the first half. This is called Leading indicator. Last summer in Men’s World Cup MyCoazhFootball Predictions were 60 % right by the winner (your team win/play draw/lose) and only 10 % by exact final scores (for example 2-1). And after first half made MyCoazhFootball Estimations FT hit correct with the winner (or draw) in 73 % of games and exactly right goal numbers in 30 % of games. If we give a tolerance of +- 1 goal to both teams, we can easily reach in 90 % on correct Estimations. The problem with the game of football is that if you take one goal away from one team and put one extra to another team, very often, the winner of the game changes! So we know a lot in advance, but fortunately game of football is always full of surpises, too. Just like life!

Who are the favorites for champs? Of course Germany, USA, France and Japan as Fifa-ranking tells us, but Canada, Sweden, Brazil, Norway, Spain and Nigeria have they word to say too. One thing is for sure: we can enjoy top quality football for one month! If you are interested to know more about MyCoazh, please visit our web site www.mycoazh.com
