It was really Magical – the atmosphere in Hakametsä Arena especially in the final. 6 500 cheering spectators and what a game! And in the end Sweden as a world champion – once again – after drama in the penalty shootout. All together the final was the best possible publicity for the floorball. Besides, the better team in the final won.

This tournament can be evaluated on many levels. In general, the whole tournament was good advertizing for the floorball and for women’s sport and you can be sure that many news fans discovered floorball. The tournament was organized well and the Arenas were awesome. One minus side was the weather. There was rain and dark until the day after the final when Singaporean players got to see the snow for the first time. The weather was not an issue while you sit 9 days from morning till night at the Arenas. MyCoazh did the same as the number one fan of the Finnish national team (and all the other teams too) Mr. Tero Töyrylä! Tero supported ALL the participating teams and MyCoazh made team analyses of ALL the participating national teams and altogether of 45 games.

MyCoazh really knows the level of the play and the players now. The whole tournament is best described by the game that decided who will be 15. and who 16 in the tournament. It means the last two teams. We do have to admit that expectations were not high. Singapore against Japan and only about 70 people at the arena ball boys and officials included. But the game was most thrilling, solid and good playing with clear game plans that the players tried to follow and perform as good as their skill level allowed them to do. 12 seconds before full time Japan scored the equaliazer and during the overtime the decisive goal. Floorball  really has a promising future all over the world.

It has to be admitted that differences at the level of the game are still huge. Here are some final results of  group stage matches: 15-0, 17-2 and 16-1, 15-2 and 14-1. But then at the end in final games scores were 5-2, 3-4, 4-3, 7-3, 2-0, 2-5, 5-4 and 5-4PS.

The final ranking

1. SWE (1.) Strong team, top players especially on attacking, with 3 top lines and good goalies.

2. FIN (2.) Solid team for both attacking and defending with the best goalies.

3. SUI (3.) Has one of the best lines in the world, but the level drops too much after that, especially on 3-line.

4. CZE (4.) Has one top-line, one ok and one whose performance varies too much, physical condition not good enough.

5. LAT (5.) Has couple of top-class players and two good lines with good saving goalie and one of the floorball history’s most defending BUS-tactics (against Sweden).

6. GER (8.) Was a team who played solid open game with no stars but good coaching and goalkeeping.

7. POL (7.) Was really defending with a shell tactics and counted on counter attacks.

8. SVK (9.) Was one potential joker at this tournament and will be one with young and talented players in their home tournament in two years.

9. NOR (6.) Was depending too much on one player only.

10. DEN (11.) Was totally depending on one line only and of course its star player, too.

11. RUS (10.) Was bit of a disappointment and perhaps could not reach the level where they could have been.

12. AUS (12.) With almost rights only played a little bit different game.

13. USA (-) Players with two passports made their game and ranking.

14. NED (-) Had a really good goalie and a lot of enthuasism but still a long way to go.

15. JAP (15) Was really of a spectacle to watch while the noise at the bench was unbelievable (players, not the coach).

16. SIN (-) Clear playing style, nice try and ok players but perhaps must still do some extra work with the stick. Japan and Singapore were the two shortest and lightest teams, too.

Only two bigger movements in the ranking. Germany went upwards and Norway downwards. So the stability would perhaps describe the final ranking the best.

MyCoazh made its own All Star nominations, too. We saw so many good players that we didn’t nominate just one All Stars line-up but 8!

Teams that used MyCoazh (Finland for the whole 2 year period and Switzerland in the tournament) got Silver and Pronze. MyCoazh is a quite powerful tool to assist coaches in scouting players and teams, in real-time game analyzing and in feedback purposes. Especially, when you can later connect the game video to the previously made game analysis it is very powerful tool to give player individual feedback.

MyCoazh Estimated the winner right after 1. period in 73 percentage of games and after 2. period in 83 % of games. The exact final results go quite seldom totally right but after 2. period if we give a tolerance of +-  1 goal for both teams, in every other game, we will find the right numbers. The most importantly MyCoazh Predicts with 0.83 correlation the future performance of players.

The future of women’s floorball seems to be promising. Magical Together –championships are over but next ones are just behind the corner.
