Magical Together: playoffs
December 9, 2015 8:47 am Comments OffIn Women’s World Championships the group stage games are over, playoffs are here! MyCoazh has so far made game analyses from 16 games and we still have USA, Netherlands, Singapore and Japan to be analyzed. All the other teams have been covered at least once. And six CoazhCornes has been held. In CoazhCorner feedback has been giving to the national team coaches. From the group stage you can say, that floorball’s Big Nations are getting bigger or what do you say about results 17-2, 14-1, 12-3 and 15-2? Slovakia seems to be rising and so are Poland and Germany. But of course, Sweden is at different level: beat Czech 17-2! Most exciting was Group C where all games were tight and ended by only goal or two difference.

We have seen some matches where there has been continuous challenging and plenty of scoring and then we have seen a bus parked in team’s own goal and everything between. The latter was the way how Latvia reached 3. place in Group B, losing “only” 0-7 to Sweden. Poland’s game is based on counterattacks only, they just patiently wait for those moments. Germany is trying to play open game as well as they can. And Slovakia has got a lot of talent. Denmark was depending too much on one line and Norway even to one player. Russia played ok against Poland, but could not score. Especially their 1-line was controlling the game, but could not get to the danger zone. Bulbash and both Viktorovas impressed. Denmark was depending too much on 1-line. That line and especially Di Nardo, Christoffersson ja Gronbech were dominating the game, but got tired and could not finish the game. Germany was more like a team and deserved to qualify, even though it went to penalty shots. From team Australia so far Meyer has impressed most.
Here you can see how different one game can be: it depends on which team’s point of view you are watching it! Above is game analysis of the SWE – LAT 7-0 game from Sweden’s point of view. MyCoazh PRO/Video game analysis is always done by one team’s angle. From opponent’s events you mark only shots. Usually in one floorball game there are about 600 – 660 events/actions. On this one Sweden had 1 031!
In MyCoazh there are 9 main Actions/Events: Shooting on Goal, Blocked, Missed, Long pass, Short pass, Possession, Duel, Foul, Block, Dribble and Long run. The principles are that one marking is made every time our player and the ball have a contact and as a matter of fact we are following the ball possession, it means every time the ball possession changes, there should be a marking. Some of the actions, without the ball are marked, too. Under these main actions, there are a lot of sub-actions for example, Clear the ball, Zero-pass or Face-off all together some 25 actions are covered.
You can use MyCoazh for scouting the opponent, for real-time game analyzing or later for feedback purposes either giving feedback to whole team, lines or individual players. Especially when you can afterwards link a Youtube-video to MyCoazh, then you get all the videoclips of the Events/Actions by just pressing the button! At the moment MyCoazh PRO/Video is still held manually with iPad, but we are now working together with company called AiScreen (www.aiscreen.co) they have tracking knowledge and our common vision is to combine our game analyzing and their tracking knowledge in some period of time.

In quarterfinals Switzerland is facing Latvia. Swiss 1-line has been excellent in this tournament and specially Corin Ruttimann, who has really not saved any energy in making the game. In one group stage game, she had 101 ball contacts (!) in one game. She really is in everywhere in the rink! Latvia has 2 fairly good lines and centers Garbare and Berzina and especially defender G.Vancane has impressed with her stick handling skills. MyCoazh prediction is that the Swiss go through from here by 7-2.

In game FIN – SUI IFF general secretary John Liljelund made a MyCoazh analysis of one key player from both teams. When you use MyCoazh for individual player scouting, you can mark the actions/events without the ball, too. So you can cover all four player roles (with and without the ball, attacking and defending). Here are Ruttimann’s statistics on individual scouting and from a part of the team performance (mostly actions with the ball). As you can see, the “maps” are quite equal there are just much more actions, when you cover the actions without the ball, too. More about these you can find from IFF-Youtube channel, where there is an interview of MyCoazh. As you can see on individual player level Results-pages all the actions have different symbols. Green ones are successful actions and red ones failed.

Czech will face Poland and on this one too, Czechs are great favourites. Czech performances have varied from excellent to lousy and it seems that not all the players are fysically in good enough condition. Defenders Capkova, Konickova and Billa have played from game to game well and in some games Krupnova, Ratajova, Vratna and Sladeckova have showed that they have talent, but level of performance varies too much. Poland’s best players have been goalie Szarmach, defender Pazio, Piotrowska, Plechan and Krzywak so far. MyCoazh FT prediction is 7-4.
Finland will face Germany and from that one, home crowd wants to have clear victory. Finland game has varied a lot, too. They played well against Norway, struggled two periods against Swiss and did not get the game flowing against Poland. Most steady players have been so far Laura Mertsalmi, Mia Karjalainen, My Kippilä from defenders and from attackers Alisa Pöllänen, Nina Rantala, Veera Kauppi and Elina Kujala. From Germany it is worth of watching how Mietz, Timmel, Neumann and Kleerbaum are performing. All good solid players. MyCoazh predicts 9-2 final scores.

Sweden gets Slovakia as their opponent. Slovakia’s team is good, but Sweden is excellent. From Slovakia one should watch especially K. and P.Hudakova and Kosturiakova. So we predict once again ugly numbers: 12-2. But today, we will see. Remember the Magical Together atmosphere is best at Arenas. See you there!
