Best of the best
June 30, 2015 6:36 am Comments OffWomen’s World Championships are at the semifinal stage. Only 4 teams left: Germany, USA, Japan and small surprise England. We have witnessed some really fine women’s football and games have been thrilling. Already all of us feel sorry for France, who challenged Germany well, but couldn’t get through. Or home team Canada, they should have won their quarter final! But I have just learnt that Goals change the games!
If you compare Fifa-ranking to final four or eight, you see that there were surprisingly few surprises! Perhaps Sweden and Brazil in negative perspective, and China and Australia in positive.
Nevertheless games have been wonderful: tactical, technical, speedy, full of battles. Of course, the pace of actions is not always same as in men’s games, but sometimes it is just good that way. I have seen so far one ugly tackle and one fake for penalty, which are the cancers of today’s men’s football. Things might of course a little bit change, when stakes are higher. These Championships have shown that FIFA’s slogan: My game is fair play! Is true in the pitch, even though it is a quite Orwellian slogan from FIFA itself.
Which teams or players have impressed most so far? It is too early to give the player of the tournament prize to any player, but of course Lady Andrade’s brilliant tricks with the ball are in mind. Anja Mittag and Celia Sasic have both been impressive and efficient, as was Eugenie Le Sommer is some games absolutely incredible. Christine Sinclair is still in top form, Megan Rapinoe and Aya Miyama have been excellent, Louisa Necib raised her level just when needed, Simone Laudehr comes from bench when ever needed, Annika Krahn is as strong as ever and Steph Houghton has shown who is in charge of their penalty area and Nadine Angerer saved her team to semis. Marta made already history or should we say herstory by scoring 15. goal in Women’s World Cup and Abby Wambach is chasing her still. Those were the names anyone could drop, what about the new ones? Nigeria’s Ngozi Okobi and Asisat Oshoala were impressive. New German star is Dzsenifer Marozsan and it is possible only in German’s Women’s national team that that kind of world top quality player starts from the bench. Japanese Nahomi Kawasumi and Mizuho Sakaguchi have really impressed, they do not necessary do anything extra ordinary, but the level of the performance is all the time high. Marie Laure Delie, Ramona Bachmann, Gaelle Enganamouit, Fabienne Humm, Kyah Simon and Ada Hegerberg all scored 3 goals in tournament and in football that is always impressive. Laura Boulleau and Meghan Klingenberg on their positions have impressed and Wendie Renard, Becky Sauerbrunn and Laura Georges in central back and in right side Leonie Maier, Lucy Bronze and Maren Mjelde.
One of the rasing stars Dzsenifer Marozsan
England had not so good start to the tournament, but they have been improving ever since. England’s head coach Mark Sampson has a real competitive team in and off the pitch. There has been reports that in coaching team there are 2 video analyzers and psychologist among other coaches, all together almost 20 persons. Germany has done this already many years and tournaments. They are leading the way. Even though if they would use MyCoazh Video, they would need only one video coach! The good work FA has been doing in England’s own women’s league, is now paying back. And Roy Hodgson should learn something from Sampson’s England.
As in tactical point of view it seem that tournament coaching is going to make the difference. One month in a tournament is a long time to be together and as a coach you should be able to continue with “minimum effort maximum results” and “improving game by game” –principles. Especially now, when the surface of the pitches is artificial grass. After this tournament FIFA will get information and feedback, what does the artificial grass means in recovery’s point of view. I am afraid, that won’t be very nice feedback! No team what so ever can attack full 90 + minutes. And if you can give rest to your star players, they will be fresher when needed. One attacking speciality has been constant changing of positions. Germany does that all the time and did it even with defenders. Artificial surface puts the ball bouncing differently, so you can not play direct balls to the strikers in a similar way as in grass. And every player is doing the defending, too. It is not rare that in corners all the players have come down.
MyCoazh has analyzed so far 21 games. Only in two games in terms of winner/loser/draw the analysis says that the final results should have been something else than in the score board. At early stage Germany – Norway draw was something that MyCoazh PRO won’t explain. Or if you just say, that it was lousy scoring in the first period from Germany maybe then. And England – Canada quarter final got a pretty different script after two quick goals for England.
England – Canada MyCoazh PRO Results page: With these kind of statistics you seldom won a football game
@MyCoazhFootball has Predicted Final Result of games before the game. And during the game @MyCoazhFootball gives Estimated Full Time scores. Predictions goes totally right (both teams) in only 15 percent of games. But with MyCoazhFootball you can Predict the winner 70% right. Or if you give tolerance of +- 1 goal for both teams, our Prediction hits 65% accuracy. During the game, in half time, we give @MyCoazhFootball Estimated FT result and it has gone totally right so far in 30% of games. The winner/loser/draw Estimations have gone 80% right and once again if we will tolerate +- 1 goal variation, we can Estimate the final result right in 90% of games. The problem with this last thing is that in the game of football, if you take one goal off from other team and put one to the another, quite often the winner of the game changes, because of the minimal numbers of goals.
